NSD Chapter 104: Who is the Bait, and Who is the Hook

Everyone turned their heads over as well, and they soon spotted Little Qu, who was currently walking away from the alley.

“Shit, he has been alarmed!” Little Liu exclaimed in horror. “He’s trying to get away now!”

In the alley, Little Qu was wearing a set of thick clothes, and he had a sling bag hanging on his shoulder. His hands were placed inside his pocket. He was moving at a brisk pace, and from time to time, he would glance at the cars that were stopped by the roadside.

“What should we do?” Liu Zishu turned to Ma Lao-er and asked anxiously. “Should we stop him?”

Ma Lao-er slowly took out his pistol, but he was still hesitating inside. He was thinking of what Qin Yu said earlier.

“He’s already right in front of us! Let’s quickly get it done and over with, there’s no need to think so much!” Little Liu exclaimed with widened eyes. “Forget it, I’ll nab him myself!”

“Wait a moment!” Liu Zishu grabbed Little Liu’s arm to stop him. “Calm down, we can still tail him with our car.”

While the few of them were talking, Little Qu was already out of the alley, and he was currently brisk walking along the left side of the pavement.

Along the remote road, Little Qu walked for around a hundred meters before finally stopping by the curb. He looked along the road, seemingly hoping to flag a taxi.

Ma Lao-er gripped his gun tightly as he shouted, “Start the engine! He’s trying to get a cab.”

“What’s your plan?” Little Liu asked with a frown as he started the car engine.

“Let’s tail him first,” Ma Lao-er instructed. “Zishu, give a call to Qin Yu and the old man. Tell them that we’re leaving the area.”

“Alright!” Liu Zishu replied as he took out his phone.

On the driver seat, Little Liu started the engine, and just as he was about to reverse his car out, Little Qu suddenly started dashing toward the alley at the opposite end of the road.

Everyone was stunned by this sight.

“I told you! We have finally found him after going through so much, so why the heck are we following him instead of charging straight in to capture him? Everything would be settled once we pin him down!” Little Liu exclaimed impatiently.

“What are we to do now? Are we going to drive into the alley to follow him now? That fellow is sly like a fox, he’ll notice us right away! In the first place, it’s impossible for him not to notice if a car were to tail him persistently! I really don’t know what you are thinking!”

“Shut up!” Ma Lao-er glared at Little Liu.

Little Liu immediately zipped up his mouth out of fear.

Ma Lao-er took a look at the main road once more and saw that Little Qu was already on the verge of entering the alley. In this decisive moment, he finally commanded, “Drive the car over. We’ll get him!”

“That’s more like it!”

Little Liu immediately pulled the car clutch and reversed the car back onto the main road before stepping all the way down on the accelerator.

With the ferocious roar of the engine, the car zoomed all the way toward the alley at the opposite end of the street as if a released arrow.

Little Qu turned around upon hearing the noise, but the glaring headlights caused him to be temporarily blinded for a moment. Nevertheless, he still reacted swiftly and immediately took flight.

Huaji!

The screech of the car brakes echoed loudly, and the car advanced for another five meters before jerking to a complete standstill.

Ma Lao-er immediately opened the car door and rushed out with a gun in hand.

“Little Liu, keep an eye on both of them,” Liu Zishu ordered before getting down the car as well with their other companion, Maozi.

All three of them were equipped with guns. Within two seconds, they had already gotten into the alley. Ahead of them, Little Qu was running away frantically as if a monster was chasing him. The distance between them was around 15 meters at the moment.

Liu Zishu cocked his gun before releasing the safety engagement notch.

Bang!

A gunshot broke the stillness of the night. The bullet struck the wall along the alley, causing a spark to flicker.

“Run! Try running again, and let’s see whether your feet or my bullet is faster!” Liu Zishu bellowed across the alley.

In the damp and dimly-lit alley, Little Qu gradually slowed his footsteps to a halt with his back still facing the crowd.

“Raise your hands up high!” Liu Zishu shouted.

Little Qu finally turned around, revealing a ghastly pale face.

There was a menacing expression on his face as he hollered in madness, “Since you aren’t going to let me off, let’s all go down together then!”

Those words made Ma Lao-er halt in his footsteps. Staring at the hysterical Little Qu, he mumbled under his breath, “There’s something wrong about him.”

Barely after he said those words, the whirring of engines suddenly sounded loudly in the air. From the intersection of the main road where Ma Lao-er had entered the alley from, four jeeps were swiftly making their way toward them.

At the same time, at the opposite end of the alley behind Little Qu, four men armed with guns walked over with widened strides.

“Fuck! The enemy got to him before us!”

Realizing what was going on, Ma Lao-er began sweating profusely. He hesitated for two seconds before he began charging forward furiously. “There’s nowhere to retreat. Let’s get Little Qu first.”

On the main road.

Little Liu reacted swiftly to the abrupt change in the situation. When he saw the four jeeps driving in his direction, heading toward the alley, he immediately switched the gear to reverse and stepped on the accelerator all the way to the maximum.

Weng!

The two back wheels of the car bumped forcefully onto the curb of the street before swiftly reversing diagonally toward the alley. Smoke was gushing out from the car’s exhaust pipe.

A series of brakes sounded as the four jeeps surrounded the car tightly, blocking its route of escape. More than ten people rushed down from the jeeps, and the leader of the group was no other than Xing Zihao.

“Don’t move. Stop your car!”

“Stop right now!”

“…!”

Ten or so burly ruffians rushed forward as they shouted loudly.

Xing Zihao took a half-meter long automatic rifle from the hands of a subordinate and cocked the gun. Then, he tilted his head as he sneered, “Songjiang’s Ma Family, is it? Looks like there are quite a lot of flies on the streets these days!”

Bang bang bang!

Xing Zihao raised his arm and fired toward the car.

The firepower of the automatic rifle was frightening. In an instant, it left innumerable holes on the windshield of the car. There was nowhere for Little Liu to hide at all. He was just about to lower his head and duck when metal bullets pierced through his cheeks and his chest, creating small holes all over him. Blood spurted all of his body.

After dealing with Little Qu, Xing Zihao turned to the alley with reddened eyes and bellowed, “That fellow named Ma Lao-er inside there, crawl out of there with your knees on the ground, and I’ll give you a chance to call your family and say your final goodbye!”

At an intersection along the main road near the alley.

Yong Dong was sitting in the car, and he was in the midst of a call with Yuan Hua when he suddenly heard a gunshot. He immediately exclaimed out of the car window in astonishment, “What happened? Why would there be gunshots all of a sudden?”

One of Yong Dong’s subordinates, who had come to Fengbei together with him, hurriedly got onto the car and reported, “Brother Dong, they have started fighting over there.”

“Fighting?” Yong Dong was stunned. “Did they manage to get away?”

“That’s not it.” The subordinate shook his head. “Right after Ma Lao-er appeared, Xing Zihao immediately brought his men over to surround them.”

“Old Ma and Qin Yu aren’t around?” Yong Dong asked.

“It seems so. I didn’t see them.”

“What the fuck? Is Xing Zihao an idiot?!” Yong Dong immediately berated with an awful look on his face upon hearing that answer. “Little Qu is already in our hands, so why is he in such a rush to make a move? Old Ma is the big fish we’re aiming to catch! Is it that hard for him to get that?!”

The subordinate immediately replied, “It might be because he’s worried that Ma Lao-er would have Little Qu away.”

“Let him take Little Qu then! Do you think that things would be over just because they got Little Qu?” Yong Dong roared with widened eyes. “After Ma Lao-er got him, he would surely find his uncle first before heading back. If we wait till they meet up before making a move, we’ll be able to get them in a sweep!”

“Xing Zihao insisted on making a move… Who would dare to refute his decision…” the subordinate finally replied weakly.

“That brat really has no brains at all!” Yong Dong was really fuming. He lowered his head and said through the phone, “Yuan Hua, I need to head over and see what the situation is. If we quickly end the fight and place Little Qu back in place, we might still be able to get Old Ma on the hook.”

“Go ahead and do what you need to do,” Yuan Hua replied with a nod.
