Chapter 57: Scram out of my sight! (7)

“What’s more, if I did not remember wrongly, Xiao Kou’s instructions was for you to only handle the affairs involving Old Master Gu. As for Gu Yu Sheng, did she not tell you to stay away from him?”

As Zhou Jing’s words sinks in, something clicked in Qin Zhi Ai’s mind.

Zhou Jing, having seen Gu Yu Sheng at the hospital, must have been worried about the current relation between Gu Yu Sheng and her affecting Liang Dou Kou’s position as Gu Yu Sheng’s wife.

“You seem you have misunderstood something. Today is Old Master Gu’s birthday. Mr. Gu and I merely attended his birthday celebration at the  Gu Main Mansion. On our way back, we were embroiled in an accident and I saved him.” Qin Zhi Ai strategically picked out the main points.

‘Oh.’, Zhou Jing nods her head in reply. Pausing briefly, she turns to face Qin Zhi Ai, a faint smile spreading across her face, “I do not have any bad intentions. I’m just reminding you not to forget the promise you made with us, and the money you need from Xiao Kou and I every month to pay off your family’s debt.”

Despite the gentleness in her tone, Qin Zhi Ai can clearly sense the warnings infused within her words.

If there is really something between Gu Yu Sheng and her, she can forget about getting any payment from Zhou Jing and Liang Dou Kou.

Qin Zhi Ai’s finger tips curls slightly. She forces a calm expression onto her face and nods, “I understand.”

Pausing, Qin Zhi Ai adds, “If there is nothing else, I will take my leave.”

“Ok, bye.”

“Bye.” Qin Zhi Ai closes the car door. Without waiting for Zhou Jing’s car to pull out from the parking lot, she makes her way into Gu Yu Sheng’s villa.

The extended emotional roller coaster ride and physical injuries had drained Qin Zhi Ai of all her energy. Moreover, the doctor had advised her against taking a shower. Therefore, after consuming the prescribed medicine, Qin Zhi Ai quickly collapses on her bed and drifts off into a deep sleep.

However, due to the wounds on her body acting up in the middle of the night, she is unable to get a good rest, constantly slipping in and out of consciousness. It is only in the wee hours of the night before she finally falls back into a deep sleep. In her dream, she is once again transported back to the times she spent with Gu Yu Sheng.

What is that saying again?

The higher the hopes, the greater the disappointment.

Qin Zhi Ai thinks, this saying is indeed true.

It was over a weekend when they were supposed to meet for a movie. Coincidentally, it was also the warmest day of the Summer.

The meeting time was set at approximately 3P.M. and Qin Zhi Ai had left her house since 1 P.M. That was the warmest time of the warmest day of the Summer.

She had commuted to the meeting place via bus but when she arrived, it was merely 1.45 P.M.. There was still one hour and fifteen minutes until the agreed meeting time.

Since entry into the cinema is prohibited without a ticket, and she was uncertain which movie Gu Yu Sheng wanted to watch, she made do with a nearby shade.

However, the weather is, in actual fact, sweltering, causing her to be soaked throughout in perspiration. Nonetheless, she did not feel a single tinge of misery. Instead, as time passed and approached 3 P.M., her mood improved. Excitement and nervousness bubbled within her, intensifying with every second. When the clock reaches 2.50 P.M., a blush even seered through her cheeks as the thought of getting to meet Gu Yu Sheng soon filled her mind.
