Chapter 13: ‘Treat you well’ (3)

Qin Zhi Ai knew the housekeeper was referring to the fact that she leaked the situation of Gu Yu Sheng’s absence from home to grandfather. But she could not totally blame the housekeeper either. Grandfather had apparently not believed her when she lied to him the first time. If not, he wouldn’t question the housekeeper in the aftermath. And even if the housekeeper had kept the cat in the bag, grandfather would still look for Yu Sheng, and the episode today would have still taken place.

“Things had already happened, no point crying over spilled milk. It’s not early anymore, hurry back to your room to rest.”

“Then Miss~, you rest early too.” There was a moment of pause before the housekeeper added, “Sorry.”

Qin Zhi Ai did not make a sound.

Similarly, the housekeeper outside remained silent.

It was a few minutes later before Qin Zhi Ai could hear the leaving footsteps of the housekeeper.

The entire second floor was suddenly shrouded in silence.

Qin Zhi Ai, although exhausted, could not fall asleep. Sitting on the bed, she hugged the covers and fell into a daze before snapping out of it and headed for the washroom.

Every step set off a wave of searing pain in Qin Zhi Ai. By the time she got to the bathroom, all the blood had already drained from her face.

Gu Yu Sheng had washed up using the shower so the bathtub had maintained its condition from before Gu Yu Sheng arrived. The hot water gushed out from the tap, bringing about bouts of hot steam that enveloped the entire bathroom.

Qin Zhi Ai turned the tap off stepped into the bathtub. The hot water wrapped around her body, relieving her body from the soreness and fatigue. The comfort of the water made her unwilling to leave until the water started to turn cold.

Wiping her body dry and throwing on a bathrobe, Qin Zhi Ai grabbed the hair dryer and walked to the front of the wash basin.

As she stared at the delicate, clean face reflected through the mirror, the words Gu Yu Sheng left behind flashed through her mind, ‘Liang Dou Kou, I’m warning you first, the next time will not be as easy as today. I have many means, if you would like to try them one by one, come by all means!’

All at once, she was lost in her own thoughts, forgetting the main reason she was standing there.

She is Qin Zhi Ai.

But in the eyes of the masses, the her right now is the famous Liang Dou Kou.

Liang Dou Kou is a household name, known for her good looks and figure. Ir was through a Xian Xia Periodic drama with record-breaking ratings that propelled her towards fame across the nation overnight.

Qin Zhi Ai, on the other hand, is just an average doe. If not for her resemblance to Liang Dou Kou in both looks and figure, she would not have had the opportunity to be scouted by Liang Dou Kou’s manager to be her stunt double.

And true her words, in the initial period, Qin Zhi Ai’s stunt double role was strictly restricted to dramas.

Nonetheless, despite being Liang Dou Kou’s exclusive stunt double, the vast disparity between the well sought-after and awe-inspiring goddess, and she who lacked a presence of her own eliminated any possibility of intersection between them. Even in the one yyear she was working as her stunt double, the number of times she saw Liang Dou Kou could be counted with two hands.

Liang Dou Kou’s life was probably too smooth-sailing to the point that it made the heavens rage. Therefore, a little more than a month ago, her heath report indicated a tumor in her breast.

Malignant, yet to spread, can be cured. However, she needs to undergo chemotherapy and surgery that would take up an entire year.

This health report came like a lighting bolt out of the sky to Liang Dou Kou who is at the peak of her career.

The competitiveness in the Entertainment industry is ruthless and nobody can predict whether she can regain her popularity and fame after one year of absence.

After much deliberation, Liang Dou Kou decided to channel all her hopes onto her stunt double, Qin Zhi Ai.
